WHERE Trina’s Starlite Lounge

WHAT A 1974 black-and-white photograph of two lovebirds dancing at the old Abbeyfeale Cafe, now known as Trina’s. It’s framed above the Somerville restaurant’s table 1.

WHOSE IDEA When co-owner Josh Childs launched Trina’s in 2009, he searched for information about Abbeyfeale and found this shot by the late photographer Jerry Berndt, famous for capturing Boston’s urban nightscape. Childs tracked down a New York gallery that had the photo but cringed at the price. “I finally decided to buy it because it was too serendipitous,” he says. Now it hangs in the exact spot where the couple once danced. “Lots of people ask about it,” Childs says. He doesn’t know what became of the couple, but he likes the element of mystery. “It could be anyone. It could be someone’s grandparents,” he says. Maybe even someone eating at Trina’s.
