First step in any recipe: Wash hands – The Boston Globe

The first step in any recipe is washing your hands, so you may as well do it in style with super foamy suds. InterDesign’s foaming soap pump ($10.99) is fitted with a brushed-nickel head that moves up and down easily. The wide-mouth clear plastic bottle, with a capacity of about 13 ounces, is marked with 2 lines. To get started, fill to the bottom line with any liquid hand soap and to the top line with water. It’s a proportion of 1 part soap to 5 parts water. Screw on the head, give it a couple of pumps, rub the foamy soap all over your hands and between the fingers, rinse, dry, and you’re ready to cook. Available at Kitchen Outfitters, Acton Woods Plaza, 342 Great Road, Acton, 978-263-1955; Tags Hardware, 29 White St., Cambridge, 617-868-7711; and KitchenWares by Blackstones, 215 Newbury St,, Boston,
